why does every game need to have co-op?

They don't, it can be a nice addition. Coming from PC gaming, as good as no games have co-op campaigns.

The awesome God of War 2 did not have co-op, neither did Resident Evil 4 or for example Metal Gear Solid 1/2/3/4. Often 360 fans use this argument to dismiss PS3 games which don't have co-op, but 360 "Game of the Year" games like Oblivion and Bioshock did not have co-op as well. Looking forward to see how co-op is implemented in Uncharted 2 though.
