Actually in regard to the ops post about Call of Duty 2 and his comment that hundreds of better games have been released on 360 since then which would really be impressive, I just did a check on Game Rankings and found out that only 20 games better than Call of Duty 2 have been released on 360 between Call of Duty 2's release in 2005 and the present day.
Also Call of Duty 2's Game Rankings score is 89.84. That means that since that time almost four years ago the 360 has only managed to have 20 games with a Game Rankings score greater than 89.84.
Now if we look at PS2 and its first four years, we see that according to Game Rankings between its release in 2000 and the end of 2004, the PS2 had 42 games with Game Rankings scores of 90 or above.
The conclusion that can be reached from this data is that if the 360 is the standard bearer for this generation so far then it is a rather poor one especially in comparison to the last gen.
Now if we look at the other two current gen consoles, we see that the PS3 released a year later than the 360 already has 13 90 and above games (with many more high quality exclusives on the way from highly talented Japanese designers while it will continue to get the same Western games as does the 360) and thus far the Wii has so far managed to get 10 games with 90 or above scores at Game Rankings, however, quite a few of these games currently have only one review, so it can be expected in a few weeks that the Wii will actually have a lower number once again and for the rest of this gen it will probably continue to miss out on the best versions of games from Western third parties unlike PS3 and 360.
So, once again the conclusion reached is that if the 360 is this gen's standard bearer it is a rather poor one compared to last gen's standard bearer, but in all likelihood by the end of the gen, the PS3 will wind up being this gen's standard bearer.
