There is some element of truth about FPS with poor graphics sucking. However it refers only to games that have relatively poor graphics. Goldeneye was relatively an excellent looking shooter compared to its peers when released.

If someone was to release a FPS today that looked like Goldeneye it would most likely suck because graphics at this level now indicate poor production values and therefore you would obviously expect those poor production values to extend to the gameplay side of things. (Obviously an exception to this is individuals developing without subtantial finances :)).

But overall leo-j's statement is fundamentally flawed.
