I assume he meant to say MGS3, not 4...

 

There's some easy answers to this actually...

1. Ps2 was heavily pirated.

2. MGS3 was the SECOND MGS game on Ps2. A lot of people who bought the MGS2 probably didnt want to pay another $60 or whatever for another MGS game on Ps2.

3. It was competing for sales with a lot of other games on Ps2. On Ps3, there isnt as much competition with other games so it's an easy choice for consumers to make. Hmmmm MGS4, or Lair? I think I'll take MGS4.

4. MGS4 got amazing reviews and is considered by many "the best game this generation"

5. MGS4 was thought to be the LAST MGS game ever. People wanted to see the conclusion.

6. The special edition only costs $35 now and it hasnt even been out for a year.
