 Same here i also played it on easy but kept dying alot.

 

Stay high I'd suggest.  Many enemies are and running around in plain site seems to be a no-no.  Enemies are actually pretty good I thought and will try and surround you so they can soak you with gunfire.

Going high, flanking, etc. seems the way to go.

I'm actually pleased with this as the demo suggests to me combat will be more involving than just running around zapping bad guys easily.  With larger clumps of enemies or tough special enemies care must be taken.
