How does one finish driving games?

This may be a bit of an odd question, but I am curious about it.  I have a bunch of driving games sitting around getting to play, but I am deciding to play through other games first.  Driving games strike me as a must have on a console, for their replay value.  But, that replay value is what makes me ask this question: How in the heck does one finish one?  Like Test Drive Unlimited, sitting around now, and would be cool to play.  But I don't get to it.

So, do people here, in driving games, ever finish one and then trade it in?
