PS3 40gig version 100% compatible with PS1 games

My understanding is that it's difficult to emulate the PS2's graphic synthesizer. That is the chip that was removed for the 40gb. It's far more difficult to emulate the functions of this chip than the Emotion Engine, which was removed for the 80gb.
