I tried one once, she lived in Detroit to my Chicago (5-6 hour drive, depending on traffic). we held out for almost 8 months before we gave up the fight and just downgraded to friends.
You did the right thing, long distance relationships are hard to maintain, and require a HUGE commitment to the other person. Find someone nearby, you will be glad you did,
