Hmmm...clear cut winner as in.. getting as close to a monopoly as possible, like the NES and PS2?...probably not.

If you notice, the Wii has a lot of similarities with the NES, it´s like a new NES generation for Nintendo..the difference is after Nintendo revitalized the U.S. game market in the mid 80´s, it practically had no competition in getting 3rd parties to develop for the NES exclusively, it was too late for the Master System and the Atari 7800 (both the SMS and the Atari 7800 were made as a response to the NES resurrecting the market, while there´s no such thing this gen).

What am I getting at here?...I´m not really sure :P

I understand you... the NES released and was dominant before anyone else had a chance, same really with the PS1 and 2, true Sega did launch before them both times but they were not a real competition... partly because Sony flattened Sega Saturn by cutting the launch price of the PS1, and then the Dreamcast didn't have a decent starting leg due to the Saturn being it's predecessor.

Wii philosophy is similar to what it was for the NES, but it released last, and to very rich and very marketshare focussed competition (ie willing to cut prices hugely, pay for exclusives etc)
