It is not possible for someone who believes in the Christian God to believe in evolution. Let me explain. Jesus says in the new testament that everything from Genesis should be taken literally, and is not a made up story, so if you say you are a christian but believe in evolution, that is like saying you are a christian, but not believing in what jesus says; which defeats the purpose of ever being a christian in the first place

Christ said that he would not change a single law in the Torah, not that everything in it was literal. He spent half of his recorded life telling parables to people - stories that had deeper meaning were sort of Christ's thing.

While it's true he does not say to take the Old Testament literally, the point more here is that, for the Bible-believing Christian, most of evolution is incompatible with Scripture (that is, if this particular Christian thinks that the Genesis account of creation is not metaphorical).
