I believe in Natural selection because its been proven. Its fact.

I do not believe in evolution and the so called "origin of life" because they are theories.

I am Christian, so yes, I do believe we were created by God.

All right I admit that you made me scratch my head on this one. If you believe in natural selection changing the shape and behaviors of future generations, you believe in evolution! That is what evolution is. Evolution has nothing to do with the origin of life.

Hell, what's wrong with being a Christian and buying into evolutionary theory whole-hog?

It is not possible for someone who believes in the Christian God to believe in evolution. Let me explain. Jesus says in the new testament that everything from Genesis should be taken literally, and is not a made up story, so if you say you are a christian but believe in evolution, that is like saying you are a christian, but not believing in what jesus says; which defeats the purpose of ever being a christian in the first place

Well I don't ever remember reading that verse in the bible. In any case, many chrisitians believe the direct message from the bible has been somewhat distorted but it is the overall message that matters. You have to remember that the current bible originated around 300AD and many of the books of the bible were written after the death of Jesus.

In any case, I know that at least the Church of England and the Vatican have both accepted evolution (there are statements by both Rowan Williams and Pope John Paul II to this effect) and that there is at least some acceptance of it amongst protestant churches and Eastern Orthodoxy.

The only major branch of Chrisitianity I haven't covered is Oriental Orthodoxy and thats because I know nothing about them.
