It's not really a lie unless Sony in fact knew last year that they would release a non-PS2-BC system. It's not like they were trying to play a malicious trick on gamers. In reality, they wanted BC to be a core staple of the PS3 like it was for the PS2, but market realities didn't allow them to uphold their philosophy. In order to make their system more marketable, they had to lower the price and something had to be sacrificed in order to get to that lower price. Does this sacrifice suck? Yeah, no one's gonna argue with you there. But did they intentionally screw their customers? No. In fact they lowered the price of the BC 60gb console while also introducing an even lower priced model. Basically Sony was stuck in a tough situation where they weren't making up any ground. And you know what they say when the going gets tough. I would be far more worried about the company if they were stubbornly staying the course (Bush administration, anybody?)

My Top 5:

Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid 3, Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia, Chrono Trigger

My 2 nex-gen systems: PS3 and Wii

Prediction Aug '08: We see the PSP2 released fall '09. Graphically, it's basically the same as the current system. UMD drive ditched and replaced by 4-8gb on board flash memory. Other upgrades: 2nd analog nub, touchscreen, blutooth, motion sensor. Design: Flip-style or slider. Size: Think Iphone. Cost: $199. Will be profitable on day 1.
