I agree somewhat, DLC works for some games and not for others, the GTA DLC for instance looks great, the Fable II DLC hasn't worked out so well though ..

I think the companies are still trying to figure out what works and doesn't work for DLC.  GTA is taking DLC in a totally new direction (and the way I think it should always be done)...  Essentially, they are reusing the game engine to have a new take on the game and see it from a different perspective.

Most of the time DLC is too much just trying to extend the play time.  I like breathing in new life by following different characters with a new plot like GTA did...
