@everybody who thinks the internet is ruining the way we get information or anything to that effect, People thought the printing press would ruin religion because now people could take Bibles home instead of going to church. People thought the printing press would ruin the way we get information because suddenly there were thousands of books being printed, including smut and and crap and propaganda and lies. Any new technology that changes the way we get information is scary for many people for a little while. I don't think it's a big deal.

Poor similitudes. Having to deal with 2 books per month or 10 newspapers per week is not the same for a human brain than having to deal with hundreds upon hundreds of articles, webpages, twitter and forum posts, videos, and podcasts a day.
Reality is that the signal-to-noise ratio for information has never been so low in human history. And the vantages of availability of content are being overwhelmed by the effort of filtering it for most users of the internet medium.
Result: misinformation instead of disinformation.
It's like nutrition: if you don't work out you won't turn all the calories you ingest into the correct and healthy body mass. It will only end up into obesity. We live in the era of information gluttony, and yet most people are not ready or able to metabolize what they like and crave.
