I don't think that is true.  Especially since Kojima never actually worked on a nintendo platform.  When NINTENDO aproached Konami about puting metal gear on the gamecube, Konami let them do it, but made them use one of their second parties (Silicon Knights) to develope it.

I think it might have been the other way around, nintendo begging konami for the rights to use snake, but I don't think kojima would have really cared enough to make a stink about it.  Especially when Kojima is a pretty obvious sony fan.

I thought this was a well known fact:

"DId Nintendo approach Konami about Snake in SSBB or vice versa?

Sakurai: What brought about the Snake character, when I was developing SSBM for GC Hideo Kojima contacted me and practically begged me to put him in there, but at that time we were deep in dev and it was too late. I just kind of gave up on the idea, but now that we had time, I remembered he asked me that and we decided to put him in. This is not so much a corporate level discussion, but a personal discussion, between Mr. Kojima and I."

Nintendo has enough choices for a roster that they can use up before they have to beg Konami for anything.

On topic: I think there needs to be as little gun-heavy characters as possible. Kinda ruin the point of a brawler, right?
