It's not just the 60GB ones that crap out, two years ago (a little over a year after launch) everyone got a 40GB PS3 as their Christmas bonus and there are more than 10 of us that have had their PS3's crap out with the yellow light (so it's about a 1/7-1/8 fail rate for us).
Yeah, my anecdotal evidence is about as reliable as the internet, just saying I'm not sure how much the PS3 model has to do with it.
I sold my 40Gig the next day because I already had an 80Gig with full BC (the 40's didn't have any) and mine is still working fine, I just know I'll be beyond angry if mine breaks. I can handle however long it would take to get fixed without my PS3 games since I have the other two consoles to tide me over, it's missing the BluRay player that would destroy me.
