I wonder...is this even that big of a deal, outside of message boards? I mean I'm sure there is a hardcore following that would pick this up on the 360, but is this really E3-worthy news? I'm just not sure (but I'm admittedly not a fan of the series, so very well could be wrong).

It actually will win a psychological war against PS3. MGS4 is seen as the defining exclusive on PS3. With a 360 version, MS will effectively:
- destroyed the notion that PS3 exclusives cant be done on xbox 360
- took away the defining PS3 games exclusivity (can no longer define as it is now multiplat)
- show the world another reason why Sony has lost its domination and influence over last generation
Even though only the forums will go nuts, the remifications of a 360 MGS4 go far beyond foum ownage. It will downright destroy the PS3 image.....or at least lessen it.

But you forget, by the time the MGS4 port is out, God of War 3 and GT 5 will be out. Those are the PS3's real defining games, moreso than MGS4 anyway. It may lessen the PS3's image but probably not as much as you think.
OT: I'm going to predict Crackdown 2 for E3 also.

GT5 I agree with you, but GoW doesn't sell like MGS does. And another of his points is exactly right. There was much PS3 fan-fair about how this game couldn't happen on the Xbox 360.
It would render moot all those points, not just for this game but for any currently in existence.
