64-bit is superior in MANY ways to 32bit.  Vista 64-bit is the best 64bit OS available and Vista is more than a great OS now.  Sure Windows 7 is better, but Vista is now better than XP in almost every respect.

The only things that don't work on 64-bit Vista is items without 64-bit drivers and some older programs.  All games run fine and 64-bit OS's even run 32-bit programs faster than a standard 32-bit OS.

Not to mention 64-bit is necessary when you want more than 3.5GB of total system memory (video and RAM).  So it is almost a necessity that gaming computers use 64-bit Vista for these reasons. 4GB is perfect for gaming and even higher than that is a good idea since you can cache more of the game on RAM and decrease loading.
