The problem with that theory is that developers dont care if the system is superior, they care if their games are going to sell. Last generation the GC and XBOX were more powerful than the PS2 but neither of them got a heavy load of 3rd party games.
Also while there may be 20 must play games for you there certainly wont be for me. LBP, GT5 and WKS are the only three that really interest me personally, not enough for me to buy the console. By looking at the sales of the PS3 I'm guessing others feel the same.
