I think JJ Abrams "wii-ified" the Star Trek Franchise, basically.

Had it continued on the way it was before, the current "hardcore" star trek base would have shrunk, and there were hardly any new "casual" star trek fans jumping on board.

I dare you to find a person who became a Star Trek fan from watching Enterprise, or even Voyager. Most likely, the people who watched Enterprise/Voyager/DS9 are the same people who watched TNG.

So the new Star Trek catered more to "casuals" but also managed to pay homage to the original continuity.

Voyager was actually really good,  the EMH Doctor is one of the best characters in the startrek universe and some of the story lines were very interesting.

My Father, mother and sister became fans of StarTrek though Voyager. I also know quite a few other people who loved Voyager before watching TNG.

Enterprise on the other hand pretty much killed Startrek, which is why the film is so important.

Lets hope they make a series that continues where Voyager left off.

Really? My dad is more into star trek than me, he used to be into TNG, the original series and enterprise. All I hear about is how enterprise is the most underrated star trek series.
