Can you be more specific? AMD's current chips are just as reliable as Intel (if you don't think so then please link) and are priced competitively, and the same for ATI except they aren't having packaging issues.

 

Im not sure how to be specific on an opinion and link it. =) I've been a computer technician since the days of 486 machines, and have just had a lot of displeasure with AMD systems over the years.

As for ATI's cards, since AMD took over, the drivers have become a lot more questionable in stability and true compatibility, whereas Nvidia has become sort of an industry benchmark for computer gaming. Some engines choke on Ati cards, no matter how powerful they are, where they run smoothly on an Nvidia card. The AMD/ATI hassle has become a thorn in the side of many people leasing game engines.
