I personally really like the trophies on the PSN! I feel that it gives a better sense of achievement than getting a score from playing the game as you know exactly what you have done in the game and which parts were more difficult, being the Silver, Gold and Platinum trophies!
It is a welcome addition to the PS3 imo and it will only get better with age
