You are missing a huge point MikeB, such a controller wouldn't be the standard input for PS3.


I wouldn't want them to, I would prefer such a device to be optional. Having a Wii-like mote available for the XBox 360, PS3 and PS2 would probably help with 3rd party software developers, allowing them to focuss on creating better motion sensing enabled games also for the Wii.

After all, we now have nearly every third pary publisher taking advantage of the Eye Toy and Guitar-Hero Guitar to produce unique and interesting games for the PS2 ...

The most successful add-ons ever created sell in the 5 Million unit range which means that third party publishers will not waste their time producing games for the tiny userbase who owns the add-on. The only reason we see dance-mat and guitar based games is that the game itself is inexpensive to produce (as compared to a game like Halo 3) and the add-on costs very little to produce (usually around $5 to $10) and they can charge a priemium for the game.

Add-Ons don't work ...
