This is absolutely incorrect. I have 2300 songs on my hard drive that agree with me. But, yes if I did cancel my subscriptions, the music would no longer play, but you most certainly to not stream all the music. I don't mind paying money for music though as I have been able to easily get introduced to a wide, wide variety of music for a not so bad price. Oh, and M$ is seperating the Zune Marketplace from the actual Zune player so that the software is decoupled from the hardware. Meaning third party hardware mp3 players will be able to use the Zune Marketplace. We could also see it on the 360 as well, allowing you to stream music, videos, and podcasts while you play. This was a very big deal around CES this year as they announced they were seperating the Zune division into two sections, hardware and software. And there is always room for someone to pick up scraps in a given area of the market. Look at the PS3.
PS. I find it very wierd that the Halo soundtracks are not available on the Zune Marketplace. WTF?!?! |
Ah... so you actually do have the files. They just sort of lock down I guess if you don't have a subscription anymore. Thanks for correcting me! I just assumed based on how the Ars article read with it saying you only get to keep 10 songs per month and what not. Sorry for any confusion I may have caused!
