Maybe a couple of underperforming models and some R&D projects...yeah. That's what some other car manufacturers are doing. When you bleed money you start to look at closing up the wounds, and those tend to be in the forms of dropping the areas bleeding the worst, or just cutting back and laying people off all across the board.
I don't think anything is happening to the Playstation brand, at least not anytime soon. I do think Sony will try to hit closer to a Nintendo-like business model next generation, which means no more high end experimental setups like the Cell and more buying the best of what's available for cheap and designing something effective with it. That doesn't mean the console can't have nice graphics. Gamecube used this method I believe and was more powerful than the PS2. It's a matter of getting the right engineers doing their best MacGyver impressions.
