What gaming company will release the first eighth generation console?

Well it would depend on how big the upgrade is.  If it's a completely rebuilt hardware with a new interactive setup and what not then it would definitely be a new entry.  But if it is something like, WiiHD or whatever for the others, then I'd say it a continuation.  But I essentially agree it's between MS and Nintendo right now.  Sony, probably wants this generation to continue going on for as long as possible.  They need a chance to recover losses and the release of a new console soon would not alleviate that.  They are better in a long run game with the PS3.  So they'll be completely reactionary to what Ninty or MS does unless things go really really BAD with the PS3 really really soon.  Hopefully that doesn't happen though so it won't be a scenario.

I'm personally expecting a Wii + upscaler upgrade and little more.  It's not like they can really get away with addign new lighting settings in their console hardware, after all.

But yeah, Sony is not in the right shape to release a PS4 by any means in the next couple of years.  They are having enough trouble making the PS3 work for them.
