When you open up a platform like PSN to everyone, it kills the need for a PS3.  Its the combination of Software + hardware that locks users into a closed system. Similar to I tunes + I pod, OSX + Macs, etc. PSN losing PS3 exclusivity is slightly giving up on the PS3.

Dude, no it's not.  And it doesn't kill any need for a PS3.  No one - I repeat - NO ONE is buying a PS3 just because they're excited to see what the PSN offers.  They might like that it's free, but NO ONE is buying a PS3 just to check out the PSN.  That makes you sound like you have no business even commenting on this.

I'll use the PSN for the same stuff I used to..downloading great games and watching movies.  Looking at trailers for new movies, watching interviews, all the same stuff I was doing before they did this.  I probably won't even use this 'expanded' service much like I don't use Home (And think Home is a waste).  It in no way shape or form giving up on the PS3 - you're dillusional.
