Sony has generally supported two consoles simultaneously. So even if the PS4 is out, the PS3 will still be around in some form. This would especially be the case if a slim-line version could be created. The second is whether or not retailers will still have the PS3. My guess is also yes -- so long as the first is true. If Sony wants to be out there, it will continue to provide the support to retailers to carry the product. So long as there is used software to sell, Gamestop will have a small section for it. If the deals Sony has for the memory controller/ram technology, the Cell processor and the GPU are too expensive and prevent them from dropping the price too much, they may have no other choice but to abandon the console when a new generation comes out. The console uses a lot of custom technology and they pay royalties to quite a few different companies/consortiums. Of course up until that date the 10 year plan will still talked about by their executives, you can't rely on any company to tell you anything which is against their best interests to tell you.
Tease.
