The PS3 wont outsell the 360 in America after the pricecut... maybe for a little while... but it isnt the product if choice in america.

Count out a $299 PS3 at your own peril. You can quote me on this: The only way the 360 will outsell the PS3 after a price cut is with a huge game launch or an equivalent price cut (the 60GB going down to $200).

Given that the Xbox 360 is profitable if you consider this analysis. Its a given that Microsoft could do an identical price cut if they chose and cut $100 off the premium SKU. Also its not a given if Sony would and could do the same, they only recently posted a profit off the entire SCE division and thats with profit from at least the PS2 propping up the numbers.

I don't think that MS can manufacture and ship the 60GB 360 at $199 at a profit. If they willing to go back to losing money with every box sold then there is hope it will  be able to track the PS3's sales.

I am pretty sure Sony will drop the price in time for the holiday season. They should be able to earn those losses back from the future sales and increase in the image of the console.

PSN ID: T_Gears

End of 2009 ltd sales:

Wii = 67-68m

X360 = 38-39m

PS3 = 34-35m

Prediction: The PS3 will surpass the 360 on weekly sales after it drops to $299 on all regular weeks (no big releases).
