Why PS3 should probably have a longer Life span than PS2. (Just an Opinion)

CPUs and GPUs don't just increase in clock speed because they can, they increase their clockspeed if they are designed to operate at said speeds. Both GPUs and CPUs have been trending towards longer pipelines which means that as a whole their clock speeds will not increase. You need short pipelines to increase clock speed quickly.

 

Are you sure about that? I know that for CPUs, it's easier to increase clock rate with long pipelines (for example, Pentium 4). Is it the opposite for GPUs?

 

Maybe its the opposite! It was a long time since I read up about that.
