Great jumps? I remember casting a Jump spell in Zelda II that gave me mad hops so I could jump up the whole screen and then land sword first in the skulls of my enemies.
In later games he uses grappling hooks to pull himself across great distances, and can use 2 at a time to cross rooms without floors in floating castles above the clouds.
The only chump who couldn't handle a spike room is Mega Man.
