i7 or AM3

Give it another 6-12 months before going for an i7. In the meantime if you need to buy, look for bargains amongst the Core 2's.

I just wish AMD (and ATI) had something to match the Intel/ nVidia stranglehold, but they're way off the pace at the moment.
