^ How can someone not like fottball, it's so exciting when there is something on the line.
The CL semi between Chelsea and Barca only had 2 goals but there was so much drama, emotions and heartache that makes all other sports hand their heads in shame. There were 2 goals, one at the beginning and one at the end, 1 dubious red card, 5 penalty claims that were worngly not given and so much shouting and swearing it would have casued the FCC to close the channel if Sky Sports was broadcasting in the US.
The only sport that comes close is Basketball when the two teams are equal in strength, otherwise it becomes too one-sided.
Edit: I think it is generally true that if you never watched two good teams playing you wouldn't understand its appeal, which is generally the case with Americans
