| superchunk said: umm. no. The problem here is that the GC was 1/3 the price of the PS3. At launch the GC was already priced in the mass market price point, while the PS3 is much, much higher than that. If they were priced the same, the PS3 would be doing a lot better and probably blowing 360's socks off. Also, looking at this graph, you can see that in WW terms both the 360 as well as the PS3 are both trending higher than GC. http://vgchartz.com/hwcomps.php?cons1=GC®1=All&cons2=PS3®2=All&cons3=X360®3=All&align=1 |
no the charts are still screwed up, do it region by region. For some reason when you put GC on all, it doesn't show others even though there is data for others now. i noticed this before, ioi you should probably take a look at that, probably a quick fix.
Anyway, if you go region by region you will see that 360 is trending a bit higher in america than GC, but PS3 is actually trending a little bit lower than GC.
In others 360 is tracking just slightly higher than GC and PS3, GC and PS3 are almost exactly the same at this point in their lifecycle in others. The difference for 360 is that it is trending higher in its 2nd year than GC did in its second year, obviously PS3 doesn't have a second year yet.
In Japan GC is trending a bit higher than PS3, and obviously way higher than 360.
Overall GC is tracking higher in Japan and America, and the same in Europe with PS3.
at this point here are the numbers
Japan
GC 1.5m
PS3 1.2m
360 - 163k
NA
GC 2.426m
PS3 2.072m
360 2.996
Others
ps3 1.5m
GC 1.5m
360 - 1.63m
in conclusion GC is actually trending higher, and as some people have pointed out the ps3 is way more expensive, and for the others numbers the ps3 hasn't had the luxury of the holiday season in others at this point while GC had.
currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X
