I can't speak for all atheists, but for me it's hardly a *belief* that (a) god doesn't exist. The only time I think about the issue at all is pretty much only when reading such threads. God is a non-entity in my life and the only reason to label myself atheist is the existence of religions.
It's pretty hard to tell where the line between a belief of a god's non-existence and lack of belief about their existence lies, but nothing I do or think is based on whether or not a god exists and on my views on the matter.
I've had more existence dilemmas about Santa that about a god. And he might be really arriving from Spain rather than the North Pole.
