I'm confused. To Wikipedia!

Okay, so the company was called Grasshopper Manufacture, and the guy's name was Goichi Suda, which somehow became Suda51.

Quick Japanese lesson!  "Go" means 5.  "Ichi" means 1.  "Juu" means 10.  Gojuuichi is 5-10-1, and that's how you say 51 in Japanese.  Five tens, one.  All the numbers connect like this, so once you can count to 10, you can count to 100!

Goichi doesn't translate directly to 51, but just "five one," which wouldn't work in Japanese.  But if you take go-ichi and turn it into 5-1, and read it in English, it's 51.  So he gave himself a nickname based on a number-translating joke.  That's how much of a nerd he is.

But he wears a luchador mask and makes really awesome games, so he's still cool.
