VG--> Movie
1. There is not enough story in a game to fill out a full feature-length movie
2. Because of 1. you need to hire a creative screenwriter who can not only convert what's in the game to a screenplay but actually make stuff up that will work.
3. No screenwriter with the talent to convert a game into a good movie has the remotest interest in writing a VG --> movie screenplay
4. Because of 3. the people hired to write VG--> movie screenplays don't have the talent required to make a decent screenplay.
5. Only brilliant directors can turn substandard screenplays into half-way decent movies.
6. Brilliant directors, like brilliant screenwriters, can't be arsed working on VG--> movie projects
7. Because of 6. only semi-decent directors work on VG-->movie adaptations and they are incapable of making something out of substandard screenplays
8. Only brilliant actors can make something out of a crappy screenplay being directed by only a semi-decent director.

I think you know where I'm going with this.
And you are surprised that Halo has gone nowhere? I don't care how good a game Halo is (and I'll have to take other people's word for it's greatness), and how great the story appears to be in the single player game, it would make a shit movie. I think Peter Jackson has come to that realisation, but they had to come up with other excuses for why it isn't being done, because they don't want to tell the fans that it would be a shit movie.
Please no more VG-->Movie adaptations until people of calibre actually take an interest in making them. Name me a single VG--> movie adaptation that has risen above the level of mediocre. It can't be done!
Stop falling for it, please. You know you'll only be disappointed with the outcome like every other time it's happened in the past. Many is the VG--> movie adaptation that I have hoped would reflect the greatness of the game, and disappointment was the result, every time.
You the playing public now have the power. Face it, all you really want is for someone to take all the cutscenes and edit them together so you can watch them all as one seamless whole. You have the technology to do this yourself, so do it, enjoy it and move on.
I watched all the cutscenes from all the Legacy of Kain games from the original through to Defiance (skipping Blood Omen II) on youtube. It was BRILLIANT! I thought I wanted LoK to be made into a movie, but I don't see anyone coming close to making anything that compares to watching the cutscenes from all those games end to end. I just wish I had them all on one DVD so I would watch them without interruption. The only improvement would be to make the animation feature film CGI quality. Other than that don't change a thing.
