how would anything I mentioned kill MS? If they can afford to sell the Arcade unit at $199 since last August or September obviously within that time it would be reasonable to assume that they have been able to shave 25% off their overhead and if you combine that with the year over year sales it also means a reduction of costs due to larger production outputs.
As far as Xbox live gold it already sells at $29 for the year practically every single week. It just jumps from retailer to retailer each week. One week it will be Kmart, then the next Best Buy, Target, TRU, etc.... So no loss there.
