My algorithm for XBLA sales is based off of gamercards - the kinds that we all subscribe for. I use MyGamerCard's numbers, and then use multiple algorithms to extract sales numbers from them.
It's not so much that BT is undertracked as it is that:
1) Major Nelson's tracking is for a different timeframe. My tracking period ended on Saturday, his ended today.
2) Under representation of Japanese sales for VOOT. VOOT is heavily played by Japanese gamers, as they represent over 50% of all users...I may need to weight J-games with some extra users. The gap between VOOT and BT is very small, but I'll try to fix it come next month.
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
