That is a poor excuse,  it is in its 3rd year now.  If the controls were as good as you claim it is, then developers would be jumping at the chance to put FPS games on it.  Plus in reviews, why doesnt the reviewer say that the games control better on the Wii then the dual analog setups on the HD twins?   If it was far superior as you say it is you would think that the reviewers would be able to pick up on that and point it out.

A poor excuse for what?? Just because the wii doesn't have 200 shooters doesn't mean that the wii mote is bad for the that type of game. Nintendo consoles have never had a lot of shooters. If you were shooting a real gun, would rather have the gun in your hands or would you rather use two analogs to control a robotic arm?

If I was shooting a real gun, I would have a real gun in my hand not a Wiimote.   If I want to play FPS games then it would be mouse/keyboard,  then dual analog.  The wiimote may be good for other types of games but, IMO its not for FPS games.  I have tried and it was terrible control scheme.

Out of curiosity, which shooting games have you played? in addition, how long?

The only way of showing people the relative improvement of the wii controls vs standard controller is to draw a few similar comparisons.

Have you ever played Time Crisis or Point Blank with the controller input? The latter showing a huge difference between control types.

Resident evil 4 on the wii had to be changed and made harder to adapt to apparantly.

The IGN review of RE4:wii illustrates the difference in aiming ability. http://uk.wii.ign.com/articles/797/797837p1.html

Another good example of this difference is the power of the steady aim perk on cod:waw on wii. This skill pretty much makes sniping redundant in the wii version because depending on the accuracy of the weapon, you can pretty much hit anybody instantly on screen.

The reason that you dislike the wiimote may be because you are genuinely bad at using a lightgun. This fact does not make the control scheme bad! a bad workman blames his tools.

You're points are very valid, but unfortunately you're wasting your time.  He'll disregard any logic that you might post.  Just as you illustrated with the 2 sticks and a robotic arm question.  The Wiimote is much much much more similar to holding a gun than dual analog will ever be.  Is it the same as holding a gun?  No.  Is it closer than two joysticks?  Of course.
