Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this exactly the wrong approach for Japan? I thought boasting and attacking the opposition directly (US style) was a big no-no?

Didn't Apple have to change their 'I'm a Mac' add in the region when they realized that directly attacking PC was doing more harm for their image and sales than good?

do u have any source.? its a news for me.. so just want to verify.. but if it is so, then MS is definitely hitting on their feet.

I'll try and find source.  I actually read it in a businss magazine looking at marketing in different markets (I work in business development covering markets such as Russia, Middle East, Africa, etc so the topic is of professional interest to me).

In the magazine it used the Apple ad as an exmaple - looking at how it was changed in UK and Japan.  UK slightly, Japan more so.  In Japan the main changes seemed to be toning down the bashing and focusing more on different use - PC for work, Mac for fun.

In general I've always understood, based on various professional opinions, etc. that you never bash the opposition directly and boast in Japan either with advertising or how you present and sell.

Let me see if anything from the article was put online.

Thanks.. i will appreciate it.
