2012 is more likely..

Sony's 10 year PS3 cycle is just company rhetorics. They have to say so. It's called marketing.

Microsoft launched Xbox 360 four years after the Xbox and managed to fend off Sony and get into 2nd position. One thing is for sure.. Microsoft won't wait 10 years (until 2015) before they release Xbox 3!

Word.

10 year cycle doesn't neccessarily mean that they won't realease a new console after 10 years. What they mean is they will keep supporting the PS3 until it runs out of juice. Just like the PS2, games are still coming out from the system (Motorstorm, Madden and etc). Let's say you are a madden fan or a FIFA or a NBA live or whatever. You can still play those game even though PS4 will come out. Although I agree with you, that's called marketing so I want them to keep that promise because it will beneficial for the less fortunate gamers. I also think that microsoft will keep supporting the 360 even if the 720 or whatever they will call their next system comes out.

MS said they would support the X360 for around 7 years.  It will be 4 years in Nov. 09.  So, Nov. 2012 should be the end of the X360 games, etc.  That's around another $120 in fees per account starting from Nov. this year.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure MS will launch it's next console in 2011.  Then, Sony will have to follow.  Of course, I would wait at least 6 months to make sure MS didn't pull another RRoD via rushing to launch.
