I'm just letting you know something that I think you should be aware of. It's important to look at something in it's own totality rather than in relation to other things.
I don't know anybody who said the squirrel commercials were good.
While I despise these commercials, they did provoke some discussion which is the whole purpose of marketing; buzz. So, in a way they were successful. So were the other ads that you critisize, although 10 times moreso.

One big criticism that you should be aware of is that none of these commercials are telling you why you should get them. The function is not being expressed in a way that would entice new customers the way that wii fit and brain age and nintendogs do.
This is a critical difference between nintendo's past success and today's marketing approach.
Using big name stars such as Beyonce, is revolting, IMO, because it's a substitute for that Nintendo appeal.
Plus, I don't like Beyonce for various reasons.
