1. GT5p was released to fund GT5, it is not a full GT game.
2. GT5 has damage.
GT5p was released so the GT team could buy the cars, crash them, to see effects of damage.
GT5p doesn't have car damage because they do things right. They needed money to buy cars to see damage, they also needed to bargain with car companies, some won't allow it, some will, some require they do crash testing to show realistic damage.
There is your answer.
