Even looking at sports, football is the most popular sports business, ATM. Its also no coincidence that they have the weakest union as well.

Why is that not a coincidence?  How are unions hurting baseball and basketball?

The players run baseball. All the contracts are guaranteed if you sign a guy for 200 milllion dollars over 10 years and he breaks his leg and never sees a pitch, you're still on the hook for that 200 milllion dollars.

the Players also will never agree to have a salary cap, so that means that there will always be a rich/poor disparity between the large market teams (aka the Yankees) and the small market teams (like the Pirates)

Basketball is starting to be the same way. There is a cap right now for Basketball, but most of the contracts are guaranteed. Ticket sales are down right now, so about 50% of the teams are underwater this year when it comes to expensives vs. revenue.

Football has the most horrible system, IMO. Most of their contracts are worth pretty much nothing. If a guy got hurt, the team could cut that guy on the spot and take a minimal salary hit.

None of that explains why football is more popular.

Football has the most horrible system because football in general is the most brutal sport there is.

Basketball... The union doesn't run the NBA.

The last time the Owners and Union faced off the Owners kicked the Unions ass.

If the owners need to they'll simply cause a "Lock out" and the majority of the union workers will fall apart and give in because they wasted all their money.

Which is the same reason the autoworkers have been backpeddling for years.

Most of them suck at saving... and NEED that money.  The Union workers have been backpedaling on everything... but they won't give up their pensions or they're healthcare because they're counting on that.
