Staude needs a history lesson.

Indeed he does.. I think they'll go with motion sensing eventually but it's a natural progression, Nintendo have created the new standard and it's only a matter of time before the others follow.. It's not a bad thing but they will copy just as they've always done..

No I don't..

Their rumble was better, their analogues were much better.. they saved third party developers from the extreme license costs that nintendo had put on publishing games on their systems. Not to mention they wanted to control what was at all released.

Furthermore they brought the console out of the kids room and into the living room, made it something cool for adults to play too

What really happened was all of the kids that played video games before Sony ever made a system had grown up.  Sony didn't do anything magical here.

Nothing magical ? the ps1 sold more than twice as many consoles as any other console before it. Not only that, it's the second highest selling console of all time only surpassed by the playstation 2. Unless all of those kids somehow cloned themselves as they grew up.. i don't really see that happening. Especially concidering many kids who had a snes got a n64 and no ps1. So i believe you are very wrong here. Not only that, but most kids from the snes era would still be kids .. or atleast not have their own apartments by the time the ps1 came out.

, they convinced developers to go 3d on the ps1 despite many developers still wanting to stick to 2d games (they were afread of the expenses versus the results so sony brought in psygnosis who created and showed off some tech demos.. for instance the one of the dinosaur .. and the one with the mantis underwater... Also made them realise the expense jump wouldn't be as big as they had anticipated which all was things that convinced the developers to go 3d.  )

AND ! They were the ones who brought motion sensing in first to many with the eyetoy. Not only that, the ps2 has various other third party motion controllers.. and accessories..

Sega had motion addons and I'm pretty sure they were out before Sony's.

Yes but did they go mainstream in any way ? cause the eyetoy most certainly did.

I know the arcade point n shoot thing was around way before.. but the eye toy greatly expanded on it and made it more common.

They also had a patent for a wii like controller in 2004. Way before nintendo even concidered their controller..

Everything I've read about the wii controller says it started development in 2001.

So how does that translate to sony copying the wiimote ?

So. I think you guys might be the ones who needed that history lesson
