Forza 3 has a 2009 release date with 400 cars and 100 tracks.

GT4 had over 700 cars according to Wikipedia, which makes that the bigger game, any idea how many cars for GT5?

 

GT4 is more of an arcade game than Forza.  Forza is more focused on accurate simluation.
