Windows 7 is still VERY similar to Vista and uses a lot of the same components. Most Vista drivers for hardware will work with 7. The biggest issue with Vista was hardware manufacturers and software developers didn't take Microsoft's advice seriously and were slow to write drivers and software updates to make their products work with Vista.
With so many architectural changes to the way the OS worked compared to XP, there was always going to be problems and now they're all getting ironed out for 7. They'd save themselves a lot of trouble if they did the Apple thing and only supported a limited history of hardware deviced rather than everything, but while it's a weakness, it's also a strength.
I'm looking forward to running it and username2324 got owned.
