It takes a lot longer to model a car for the PS3 than it does for the PS2. Polyphony only had time for 180 when they made the generational leap last gen with GT3. Maybe GT6 will have 900 cars...
So I take it Forza 3's cars aren't likely to be as detailed? Is this a significant difference in model complexity or is it relatively minor?
Judging by the standard set on GT5P and FM2 I guess Gran Turismo cars will be more detailed. That's just on the exterior models. I do hope they include cockipit view in Forza3 too, and G25 compatibility. If they do I will consider buying a 360 for it.
G25 compatibility... Thats the one! I find the Xbox 360 racing wheels to be really mediocre, but I will be almost as happy if they create one of their own which is almost as good... But still its no G25 with 3 platform compatibility PS3/PC/360....
Wow hold on a sec. 360 Wireless wheel is very very good. I own it, and as you all know am a massive real life racing fan.
The force feedback is better than the G25 wheels. And the wheel feels much sturdier. None of it feels plasticy at all. The only thing it doesnt have is a gear lever. But obviously it has the paddles, which I will add is the best paddles Ive used. Saying that as a F1 fan, thats the only way I will use the gears. :)
Heres a review of it, and the force feedback in action.
For starters the 360 wheel has no H shifter, not even sequential, plus it lacks clutch. Your comments on the G25 being less sturdy and having worst force feedback than this 360 wheel are quite baseless I think.
The G25 is not the perfect wheel, but certainly the best mass market one. There are known issues like the shifter could have a better feeling when changing gears, etc. but these are not major problems. If you want something better prepare your wallet and get yourself some ECCI or TSW wheel.
2 things I dont want the wheel to have.
1. a clutch.
2. H shifter.
I dont mind the lever for sequential but thats it.
I am lucky enough to have driven a touring car ( my uncles built one, BMW M3 ). Racing cars dont have clutch pedles. I am a racer through and through. I own a G25 wheel with modded drivers for GTR 2 on my PC. And yes it's force feedback is not as good. And it feels more plasticy.
main things the wheel needs for me is precise force feedback, and good paddle shifters. When F1 game arrives next year those paddles have to be damn good.
G25 is a good wheel, but it's not worth it's price tag. Also I will say the 360 wireless wheel has had reports of some issues ( just replace it ) and it's not actually wireless entirely. You have to plug it in to the power point for force feedback to work.
