One thing that should be noted.
World of Warcraft is addictive. But because it is easy to be addicted to it, people think you're addicted if you play it.
I played WoW for 2 years ago (before TBC), together with 8 of my friends. Over ~ 300 days, I played 180 hours on my main character (and maybe 50 or so on the others). That's less than an hour a day on average, and I found the game brilliant.
My family and some friends, however, meant that I was addicted to it. They actually managed to make me believe I was addicted to it, so I quit. I later checked, and found I had only played as much as I stated above. I wasn't really ever addicted to it.
I mean, I have played Fire Emblem (6-11) for ~ 50 minutes a day (average) for a year and a half now, yet nobody has said I'm addicted to that. And it's the same with TF2 (albeit just for 6 months now).
So essentially, I was considered (and believed I was) addicted to WoW, because it was WoW, not because I played it a lot.
PS: I'm not saying that there aren't people who are addicted to it, but I believe that most of the people who are "addicted" are just stories blown out of proportion.
